Great Is Your Faithfulness

If you've spent much time on social media, you've probably noticed a pattern. Beautiful Bible verses are often placed over beautiful pictures—a peaceful sunrise, a quiet mountain lake, or waves gently rolling onto the shore.

There's nothing wrong with beautiful pictures.

The problem comes when we begin to assume God's promises are only meant for beautiful seasons.

Jeremiah reminds us otherwise.

When he wrote, "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end...great is Your faithfulness," he wasn't sitting beside a quiet lake. He wasn't watching a sunrise from a mountaintop.

He was standing in the ruins of Jerusalem.

The city had been destroyed. The Temple had been burned. Families had been scattered. Everything familiar had collapsed. Humanly speaking, it looked hopeless.

Yet it was there—in the ashes—that Jeremiah remembered the character of God.

That changes the way we read this passage.

God's faithfulness is not dependent upon our circumstances. His faithfulness flows from His unchanging character.

That same truth is woven throughout Scripture. Nearly one-third of the Psalms are laments. These inspired prayers are remarkably honest. God's people cry out in confusion, grief, fear, and disappointment. They ask difficult questions. They pour out their hearts before the Lord. Yet most of these psalms move from sorrow to renewed confidence in God's steadfast love, reminding us that faith does not ignore pain—it brings pain to God.

The pattern is beautiful. Bring your burdens to the Lord. Tell Him exactly where you're hurting. Yes, we can complain to God!  Ask Him for the grace you need today. Then remember who He is.

That is precisely what we see in Luke 2. The world appeared to be spinning out of control. Rome ruled. Taxes increased. Bethlehem was crowded. Nothing looked peaceful. Yet beneath the surface, God was quietly accomplishing every promise He had made by sending His Son into the world.

Perhaps today your life feels less like a vacation postcard and more like the broken streets of Jerusalem.

Maybe you're carrying grief. Maybe you're waiting for an answer that God seems to ignore. Perhaps your future feels uncertain.

Friend, God's faithfulness has not changed.

The cross and the empty tomb remain the greatest evidence that God always keeps His promises. He was faithful then, and He will be faithful now.

Trust Him!

You don’t need to understand everything He is doing because you know the One who is doing it.

Prayer: Father, sometimes this life feels more like ruins than a beautiful sunrise. Thank You that Your faithfulness is never determined by my circumstances but by Your unchanging character. Please Father God, help me to bring my burdens honestly before You, to receive Your grace each day, and to trust You even when I cannot see what You are doing. Thank You for proving Your faithfulness through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Teach me to rest in You today. Amen.
