Elder - Chair

Job Summary:

The Elder Chair leads and supports the Elders of theStone Church in their spiritual oversight and care of the congregation. This individual serves as a key member of the church leadership team and ensures that the church’s mission, values, and vision are reflected in all elder-related responsibilities and activities. The Elder Chair plays an essential role in fostering a healthy, vibrant, and spiritually mature church community through prayer, guidance, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Oversight:
o Lead and facilitate Elder meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
o Provide spiritual oversight and guidance to the Elders as they care for the church body.
o Develop and maintain strong relationships with other church leaders, staff, and members.
o Support the Senior Pastor and church leadership in church vision and strategic direction.

Spiritual Care:
o Lead by example in spiritual maturity, prayer, and devotion.
o Provide guidance in resolving conflicts and addressing concerns within the
congregation.
o Ensure that the Elders are actively involved in shepherding and discipling church members.

Planning and Coordination:
o Organize and oversee Elder retreats, training sessions, and other spiritual
development opportunities.
o Collaborate with church leadership on strategic initiatives and church-wide
events.
o Assist in the development and implementation of church policies, vision
planning, and growth strategies.

Communication and Reporting:
o Serve as a liaison between the Elders and the church congregation.
o Regularly report to the Senior Pastor and Church Board on the activities
and concerns of the Elders.
o Ensure the vision and direction of the church are clearly communicated
and upheld by the Elder team.

Elder Development:
o Mentor and support new Elders, ensuring they are equipped for their roles.
o Promote unity within the Elder team and foster a spirit of collaboration and
teamwork.
o Assess and promote the spiritual growth and effectiveness of each Elder.

Qualifications:
*Strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a passion for His Church.
*Proven leadership experience, preferably in a church setting.
*In-depth understanding of Scripture, theology, and church governance.
*Demonstrated commitment to prayer, pastoral care, and spiritual growth.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to lead with wisdom, discernment, humility, and integrity.
*Prior experience as an Elder or in a leadership position within a church is highly preferred.
