Job Overview: Treasurer
The Treasurer is a vital leadership role within the Stone Church community, overseeing the financial health and stewardship of the church’s resources. This individual will work closely with church leadership, including the senior pastor and board members, to
ensure the church’s finances are properly managed and in accordance with biblical principles. The Treasurer plays a key role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible financial planning in alignment with the church’s mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Oversight
o Monitor and manage church finances, including income, expenses, and savings.
o Oversee preparation of the church’s annual budget and financial
projections in collaboration with church leadership.
o Ensure proper allocation of funds for church programs, staff salaries, and operational costs.
2. Accounting and Record-Keeping
o Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, donations, and church assets.
o Ensure that financial records comply with relevant legal and tax
regulations.
o Provide regular financial reports to the church board and congregation as needed.
3. Financial Stewardship and Planning
o Assist in the development and implementation of strategies for financial
growth, such as fundraising campaigns, tithing initiatives, and other
stewardship efforts.
o Provide counsel and guidance on financial decision-making, ensuring that the church’s financial practices reflect biblical principles of stewardship.
4. Audit and Compliance
o Ensure the church undergoes regular financial audits and reviews by
external auditors when necessary.
o Collaborate with the church’s finance committee to ensure compliance with tax laws and non-profit regulations.
5. Collaboration with Church Leadership
o Attend board meetings and participate in strategic planning sessions.
o Advise and support the Senior Pastor and other leaders on financial
matters, such as large expenditures, capital campaigns, and long-term
financial planning.
6. Congregational Engagement
o Educate and encourage the congregation in biblical financial principles, including tithing, giving, and stewardship.
o Help organize and communicate financial updates to the church body, fostering trust and transparency.
Qualifications
*Strong personal faith and commitment to the mission and values of Stone Church.
*Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or related fields (non- profit experience is a plus).
*Ability to manage budgets, financial reports, and accounting software.
*High integrity and transparency in all financial dealings.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work well with other church leaders and the congregation.
*Experience with audits, tax filing, and compliance is a plus.
