The Shepherd in the Shadows 

Main Point: The Good Shepherd walks into the shadows not to spare us from them, but to stand with us in them — seeking us, sheltering us, and saving us with His eternal presence. 

I. The Shepherd’s ComfortHe Seeks You in the Shadow (John 11:17-20: Psalm 23:4a) 

 

  1. Jesus shows up in the shadows.
  2. Jesus stands beside us. 

 

 

II. The Shepherd’s ClaimHe Shelters You in Valleys of Death. (John 11:21-26; Psalm 23:4b) 

 

  1. He is the voice over it!
  2. He is the victor over it.
  3. He is the vine of eternal life! 

 

 

 

III. The Sheep’s ConfessionHis Salvation Embraces You Eternally. (John 11:27; Psalm 23:6) 

 

  1. Faith speaks before the stone rolls! 
  2. Faith senses hope in hot pursuit! 

 

 

 

“You Are With Me”

When the tomb was sealed,
The Shepherd came walking.
Not to avoid the shadow—
But to stand in it.
Not to fix the pain—
But to fill it with Himself.

The rod spoke comfort.
The staff declared truth.
And in the darkness,
Faith found its voice:

“Yes, Lord… I believe.”

And the shadow?
It didn’t win.
The Shepherd did.
